Just a day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram described the naxalism as a biggest threat to internal security, the suspected Maoist activists blew away a portion of railway tracks in the wee hours today here, sources said.
Due to naxal attack, a goods train derailed and disrupted train services on the Howrah-Mumbai route.
Rourkela railway station manager S K Panda said that a portion of the railway track between Bhalulata and Jareikela was blown up by Maoists.
The incident occurred around 1.00 am, causing derailment of two wagons of a freight train, he added.
